Bui Thanh Tam (1979, Hanoi) was born and grew up in Thai Binh Province, Vietnam. He graduated from Oil Painting Department, Vietnam Fine Arts University. Tam’s practice is mainly oil on canvas, with theme reflecting social and political issues in Vietnam and around the world. The message in the works of Bui Thanh Tam is often conveyed through the actions and attitudes of the human-like characters, costumes with Asian influences. He uses frivolity to expose himself, purposely overwhelming the viewer with clashing, showy visual bumps. Bui Thanh Tam’s works are often exhibited widely in Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Germany private museums and European countries. He appears in many collections throughout Asia, Switzerland, Holland, UK, France, USA, Canada. Currently, he lives and works in Hanoi, Vietnam.
