Hà Huy Hiệp (b. 1974, Hà Tây) is a Hanoi-based visual artist. With a background in sculpture, Hiệp brings a powerful sense of form to his painting practices. Despite limitations in spatial representation and material, he’s still able to bring a strong vibration of form, liberating his sculptural thinking on the two-dimensional surface in his painting.

It’s almost impossible to discern any boundaries in his approach to form. This liberating quality allows his works to blend elements of fantasy and surrealism inspired by his observations of the world around him.

Hiep’s practice is not only defined by robust forms; his ongoing engagement with poetry also enhances the bold, contrasting, and vibrant color, adding depth and poetic quality in his pieces.
