Một Mình Bao La - A private exhibition - BÙI THANH TÂM x ĐỖ BẢO

Artist Bui Thanh Tam and musician Do Bao form an unaffected artistic connection despite no prior chance encounters. While the former narrates with canvas and hues, the latter recalls bygone times with notes and keys. Do Bao's music serves as a beacon of hope and life motivation for Bui Thanh Tam, who aspires to visualize such mesmerizing scenes onto his canvas.
The two minds also resonate powerfully as regards the nature of life and of being a human. Songs composed by Do Bao are laden with questions and misgivings about man and life and are deeply philosophical, a perfect match for Bui Thanh Tam’s perspective on arts creation. “My perennial favorite album of his is Canh Cung, whose songs’ depict scenes and occurences that are indeed surreal through the prism of a painter. They revolve around topics of freedom, love, bliss and even loneliness. They portray scenes that I’ve grown used to, but in different settings and dimensions – both so Real and so Unreal.”, opened up Bui Thanh Tam.
A private exhibition entitled “Mot Minh Bao La” is slated for November 15, 2023 by Gate Gate Gallery, featuring eleven unique works of art of Bui Thanh Tam - all inspired by the music career that spans thirty years of Do Bao. For “Mot Minh Bao La”, Bui Thanh Tam continues his traditional art practices, and incorporates into his pictures his reflection, conversation and thoughts on the universe and the starting point of life.
“Mot Minh Bao La” evokes feelings about the deliverance from life aspirations and ambitious goals in one’s mind to immerse oneself in the five elements of yin and yang of the universe, thereby ultimately achieving peace of mind, just like gently shining stars in the vastness of space. “Compared to the vastness of life, we, as humans, are so small and fragile. However, each of us has a unique beauty, so unique that we cannot compare ourselves to anything.”, Do Bao shared.
